The company rankings from 2017 to 2025 show that firms in the region are generating higher turnover, while profitability and the employment level that surged in 2023 could not be sustained over the longer term.
The regional economy rests on several sectors: alongside food and agricultural companies, automotive, textile and tourism businesses also play an important role. This diversity reduces dependence on a single industry, but it does not eliminate cost and profit pressure.
The Treiscaune de Sus economy in 2025
The dataset analysed covered 1,747 companies from TreiScaune de Sus in 2025. Together, they recorded:
• RON 3.10 billion in revenue ;
• RON 199.3 million in profit ;
• 8,210 employees .
The revenue TOP 50 companies generated RON 1.68 billion, or 54.18% of the region’s total revenue. The first fifty companies in the profit ranking accounted for 52.50% of total profit, while the largest employers represented 51.17% of all employees.
The TOP 50 has a substantial weight in all three indicators. Even so, 48.8% of jobs are provided by companies outside the first fifty, underlining the continuing importance of small and medium-sized firms in the local labour market.
Revenue increased, but profit fell by almost 40%
Between 2022 and 2025, the combined revenue of companies in the region increased from RON 2.67 billion to RON 3.10 billion. This represents nominal growth of 16.0%.
Because the figures are expressed in current lei, nominal change is not the same as a change in the volume of products and services. Inflation and sector-specific price movements can significantly affect the comparison.
Total profit fell over the same period from RON 322.0 million to RON 199.3 million, a decline of 38.1%. The 2024 value was RON 200.9 million, followed by a further 0.8% decrease in 2025.
Employment increased from 7,633 to 8,210 people. This is equivalent to 577 additional jobs, or growth of 7.6%, although the exceptional level reached in 2023 could not be maintained through 2025.
Large-company profit declined the fastest
Comparing the standalone annual TOP 50 rankings, between 2022 and 2025:
• the combined performance of the revenue TOP 50 increased by 4.7%;
• the total profit of the profit TOP 50 fell by 46.4%;
• the headcount of the fifty largest employers increased by 4.3%.
The revenue TOP 50 share declined from 60.05% to 54.18%, while the profit TOP 50 share fell from 60.65% to 52.50%. Employment concentration eased from 52.78% to 51.17%.
The different movement of the three indicators shows that revenue, profitability and jobs are not changing at the same companies or at the same pace. Turnover among the largest firms increased, but their profit loss was even stronger than the regional average.
Long-term financial growth is accompanied by fewer large-company jobs
The combined revenue of the revenue TOP 50 stood at RON 1.00 billion in 2017 and reached RON 1.68 billion in 2025. This represents nominal growth of 67.3%.
The combined profit of the TOP 50 was RON 57.5 million in 2017 and RON 104.6 million in 2025. Nominal growth amounted to 81.9%, although the 2025 figure conceals a major decline from the 2022 level.
The fifty largest employers had 5,335 employees in 2017 and 4,201 in 2025. This is a decline of 21.3% over eight years.
The long-term data show that the relationship between financial performance and employment is not linear. Inflation, productivity, company structure and shifts in the sector mix can all contribute to revenue growth.
Food, the vehicle market, tourism and textiles shape the structure
When the companies in the 2025 revenue TOP 50 are grouped by their primary activity, food, beverages and agriculture form the largest sector group, accounting for 35.7% of revenue. Automotive, metalworking and machinery represent 21.1%, while trade, tourism and other services account for 15.5%.

The regional economy rests on several sectors, but the performance of individual large companies can still materially shape the overall picture.
Which companies defined 2025?
The revenue ranking was led by NEXXON SRL, with RON 213.8 million. The highest profit was recorded by BIOFARM SRL, with RON 8.8 million, while the largest employer was ZARAH MODEN SRL, with 972 employees.
Other companies at the top of the revenue ranking included:
• ZARAH MODEN SRL, with RON 136.1 million;
• JULIUS MEINL ROMANIA SRL, with RON 136.0 million;
• AGROPROD CARTOF SRL, with RON 75.2 million;
• IMPERIAL HOTEL MANAGEMENT SRL, with RON 67.0 million.
The largest annual revenue increase was achieved by JULIUS MEINL ROMANIA SRL, with growth of RON 33.4 million. GOLDIM SRL increased its turnover by RON 16.4 million. The largest decline was recorded by COVASNALOG SRL, at RON 16.3 million.
The profit ranking was the most volatile: in 2025, eighteen new entrants appeared in the top fifty. The revenue ranking had two new entrants, while the employer ranking had five.
What does the TOP 50 entry threshold show?
The entry threshold for the revenue TOP 50 was RON 9.7 million in 2022 and RON 11.4 million in 2025. This represents an increase of 17.2%.
The entry threshold for the profit TOP 50 was RON 1.4 million in 2022 and RON 0.7 million in 2025, a decline of 49.8%.
The employer TOP 50 threshold was 23 employees in both 2022 and 2025.
The higher revenue threshold points to stronger turnover among mid-sized firms, while the halving of the profit threshold clearly signals weaker profitability. The unchanged employment threshold indicates that labour demand in the middle of the ranking remained broadly stable.
Rising turnover, but vulnerable profitability
Companies in Treiscaune de Sus generated higher total revenue in 2025 than three years earlier, but profit declined substantially. Employment eased after the 2023 surge, although it remained above the 2022 level.
The region’s long-term stability will depend on whether its diversified economic structure can deliver more durable profitability and more predictable jobs. This requires both stronger results among leading companies and a broader strengthening of the small and medium-sized business sector.
